此曲美村男歌手Justin Tubb所，收於其1962的《Star of the Grand Ole Opry》中。1976，村女歌手Sammi Smith翻唱此曲，唯原歌的第一人改第三人，同名及曲均得村榜第43名。

Sammi Smith於11就在夜演唱，15嫁了知名的吉他手，生了3孩子後於1966婚。1967被Johnny Cash的士手掘，搬去了Nashville，再Johnny Cash的推了Columbia唱片公司，1967~1969行了首曲，大多都入榜但成普普。而人的，真的是城也不住。1970，Sammi翻唱Kris Kristofferson的《Help Me Make It Through the Night》，一拿下村榜的冠及流行榜的第8名，自己及Kristofferson各得了一座葛美。

Sammi成名後始和Waylon Jennings、Willie Nelson走得很近，成少「非法村」流派的女性，但未能再有亮眼的佳表。2005，因肺世，享年61。Sammi Smith唱《Single Girl》的Sandy Posey，人不歌路有些似，歌唱事的遭遇也相同，後人得的大概也只有一首她成名的招牌歌了。
