1958，美魂及奏歌手Ben E. King加入doo-wop合唱The Five Crowns任主唱，同年稍晚，The Drifters ( 漂流者 ) 的理George Treadwell原全部「走」，置Five Crowns的，成了「新」The Drifters。
此首《There Goes My Baby》Ben E. King理George Treadwell及另位Lover Patterson三人共同合交由The Drifters唱，歌曲的作人Jerry LeiberMike Stoller ( 人曾搭出一些知名的歌曲，如王Elvis的《Jailhouse Rock》，The Coaster的《Searchin’》《Yakety Yak》等 )。有趣的事情了，位作人取的是非的方法，使用高亢的弦和一些奇怪的鼓，及其它奇怪的音。Leiber ，他第一次在收音上到首歌，以正在收台。

首歌混的音情，使得Altantic唱片公司的合夥人兼行作Jerry Wexler大不，除了痛位作人，是在浪公司的。但歌曲行後大大的成功，不在告示牌R&B排行榜得了冠，在100排行榜也拿下了第2名
Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller想天的新作歌曲，成功或有些的成份，而在1961Ben E. King後，三人合由King主唱的《Stand By Me》，成了世的典歌曲，足人在歌曲的作、作上是具有相的力。
歌曲的主是女友不知去到何方，是自己女友心碎和哭泣的果，早知今日、何必初？也是有活。呵呵！
