此曲美女歌手兼曲作家Gretchen Peters所，原先是要提供女歌手Reba McEntire唱，但被拒，之後再由村女歌手Martina McBride，收在她1994的《The Way That I Am》中，曲得村榜的第12名。此曲也在1995歌的Peters得了CMA ( 村音 ) 「年度最佳歌曲」的。

由歌名「Independence Day ( 立日)」，或以是首「歌曲」，而其是首於「家暴」的歌曲。故事是一8小女孩的角及所的一些事情的感受。歌未明言，然是母放火房屋了，家暴的父同於，也藉由「立日」喻是得了另的「立自由」 ( 放火屋法的不良示，勿效法。)。
Martina McBride曾任「全家庭暴力」及「全止家庭暴力路」的言人，自1995以，她每年都主持田西中部YMCA的名人拍，迄2010，她已集了超50美元。由她此曲，也算得上是「名正言」了。
