此首《You Don't Own Me》17的美女歌手Lesley Gore於1963年底所唱行，然在次年到告示牌榜的第2名，而冠曲是英披合唱初打入美市，到不行的《I Want To Hold Your Hand》，遇到超的手而屈居其下，在也只能言。Lesley Gore的成名曲是1963的冠曲《It's My Party》，此曲她第2首的曲，也是她最後一首入榜前10名的歌曲。

此曲歌所表的是男友的，明白的指出男友不有她，所以不必告她做及些什等等……。此曲多年女性得到感，也常被是形成「第二波女主」的因素之一。

Lesley Gore於2015死於肺癌 ( 68 )，在她的告中提及，她的首《You Don't Own Me》是「indelibly defiant ( 不可磨的挑？)」。Gore死後一月，澳洲女歌手Grace行她的首曲，就是翻唱此首《You Don't Own Me》( 美舌歌手G-Easy亦穿插在歌曲中 )，Grace and G-Easy的版本在澳洲大，得「澳洲唱片工 ( ARIA )」售3白金 ( 21 ) 的。值得一的是，Grace翻唱版的作人，正是Lesley Gore年的同一作人Quincy Jones。

2005，Lesley Gore在接受女同承自己是「蕾 (Lesbian )」，1982起就和珠Lois Sasson在一起，Lois Sasson也成Gore死後的受益人。

在多的翻唱者中，有到Dusty Springfield 和Joan Jett，莫非此曲和「女同」有著神秘的？哈哈，然不是。像在1996的影《The First Wives Club》( 台：大老婆俱部 ) 中大唱此曲的Bette Midler(蒂蜜勒)、Goldie Hawn( 歌蒂)和Diane Keaton (黛安基)，三人然都不是。
