《Whisky In The Jar》所熟知流已久的民，但原作者已不可考。歌曲是述一名，了一位 ( captain Farrell ) 的，了房子人 ( or妻子？ )，果被人出而入。由於翻唱者多，歌或也各有所不同。
此曲自50年代初期起即有翻唱，而歌曲始曝光，是由於民The Dubliners在1967的翻唱版本。在美，是由The Highwaymen的版本了流行 ( The Highwaymen最知名的歌曲《Michael, Row the Boat Ashore》，1961冠曲，相信很多人都熟悉。)。
1972，Thin Lizzy此曲改版，也出了知名度。1998，美重金Metallica沿了Thin Lizzy的曲，更加重了口味，除了受到重金友的喜，也得了一座最佳硬式演唱的葛美。
