克阿瑟子祈文

主啊！教我子，

在弱能不屈、

在怕能勇敢自持、

在的失中毫不、

在光明的利中仍保持和。

教我子，

力行而不事空想，

使他你，同也他自己，才是一切知的端。

我祈求你，不要他引上逸之途，

而他置於困及挑的磨刺激之下，

使他著在暴中站起，而又由此著同情那些跌倒的人。

求 你他有一的心，一高尚的目，

在指人之前先自制，

在向未之而不忘去。

主　在他有了些美德之後，我要祈求你，

他充份的幽默感以免於，

他，使他永著，

真正的大是、

真正的智慧是坦率、

真正的力量是和。

然後做父的我，才敢的，

我算子有白活。

General MacArthur’s Prayer for His Son --------

Build me a son,

O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak ;

and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid;

one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat,

and humble gentle in victory.

Build me a son whose wishes will not take the place of deeds;

a son who will know Thee

and that to himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.

Lead him, I pray,

not in the path of ease and comfort,

but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge.

Here let him learn to stand up in the storm;

here let him learn compassion for those who fail.

Build me a son whose heart will be clean,

whose goal will be high,

a who will master himself before he seeks other,

men, one who will reach into the future,

yet never forget the past.And after all there things are his,

add, I pray enough of a sense of a humor,

so that he may always be serious,

yet never take himself too seriously .

Give him humility,

so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness,

the open mind of true wisdom, and the meekness of true
